Aidos: International StakeHolder Dialogue and the Mind the Gap Project
AIDOS Italy has been busy this last quarter!
AIDOS, GAMS Belgium and the End FGM European Network organised an International Stakeholder Dialogue on Gender Transformative Approaches to Ending Female Genital Mutilation, in the framework of the “Building Bridges between Africa and Europe to tackle FGM” project. The discussions gathered 53 stakeholders from the public sector, civil society organisations and the UN system, representing 33 organizations from 21 countries across Africa, Europe and North America working towards the elimination of FGM. A report containing challenges and recommendations for the implementation of projects with a gender transformative approach was developed and presented in a webinar on the 2nd of December. Within the same project, sensitization activities on FGM were piloted in schools in the Republic of Guinea with local partner organization Action Solidarité Développement (ASD).
On the 25th of November, AIDOS and its partners launched the Mind the Gap Guide, available in Catalan, English, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. The Guide aims at providing teachers and educators with a set of useful tools to be used when working with young people in order to promote gender equality, prevent gender-based violence, enhance the capacity of students to explore their full potential, and build an inclusive and equitable educational environment for all. A set of training courses are being held on the same topics, and a round table was organised on the 21st of November in Rome gathering associations working on the deconstruction of gender stereotypes in the educational context.
