This project, funded by Erasmus+, aims to facilitate the creation of a podcast series by youth for youth on FGM and Gender-Based Violence in collaboration with the Network's Youth Ambassadors.

Partners: End FGM EU (Brussels, coordinator); Save A Girl Save A Generation (Spain) , AkiDwa (Ireland), FSAN (The Netherlands) , FORWARD UK (United Kingdom).

Timeframe: 24 months starting in December 2022

This project aims to build the capacities and skills of a team of 6 young women ( Ireland, The Netherlands- Spain - UK) from FGM-affected diaspora communities to develop their own podcast dedicated to ending FGM.

The Purple Chair podcast project will first aim to amplify and empower youth voices from affected communities against FGM and diversify the kind of youth activists we see taking the stage in Europe. This objective is directly linked to the promotion of youth social entrepreneurship and the increasing use of digital tools among young activists engaged in ending FGM.

Project objectives:

  • Increase awareness amongst European youth and, more broadly, European citizens about FGM and other forms of Gender-Based Violence.
  • Foster youth involvement to challenge gender-based violence and harmful practices.
  • Create a youth-friendly and innovative resource to democratise gender equality and end FGM activism amongst young people.
  • Ensure that the podcast will remain available beyond the project’s duration, and we hope it will inspire more young people to take the mic and share their voices on taboo issues.
