Barcelona Int. Conference on FGM: Exploring Strategies and Good Practices
On 19-21 November, End FGM EU took part in the International Conference on Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting (FGM/C): ‘Exploring strategies and good practices’ hosted in Barcelona by Wassu-UAB Foundation. The event was a unique opportunity to highlight the importance of addressing FGM in the context of asylum in Europe for an expert audience attending from all regions of the world.
End FGM EU presented the latest data by UNHCR, showing that in the past year; the share of women and girls coming from FGM-practicing countries that are potentially affected by FGM has proportionally increased. Based on this, we shared our policy recommendations to insure that FGM is addressed in an appropriate and comprehensive way within the asylum sector, and that women and girls affected by FGM are adequately supported and protected, both at national and European level.”
