EIGE Seeks to Refine Its Risk-Estimation Tool for FGM in the EU

The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) has launched a new contract opportunity (Ref. No. EIGE/2025/OPER/16: Refining the Process – Improving EIGE’s Step-by-Step Estimation on Female Genital Mutilation Risk in Europe) with expressions of interest open until 30 September 2025.

This study aims to assess the need to update EIGE’s step-by-step methodology for estimating the risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) among women and girls living in the EU, in light of significant contextual changes affecting FGM practices. The study will begin by analysing key contextual factors, including socio-cultural, economic, and political dimensions, that influence the risk of FGM. It will then identify and evaluate available data sources relevant to risk estimation. Finally, it will review EIGE’s methodology in view of new socio-economic scenarios.
The outcome of this process will be evidence-based recommendations to strengthen and improve EIGE’s existing measurement framework for estimating the risk of FGM across the EU.

This ex-ante publicity is the first stage of the negotiated procurement procedure through which EIGE may award the above-mentioned contract.
All parties interested in providing the services described above should express their interest through the Funding and Tenders portal. The deadline for the expression of interest is 30/09/2025.

Economic operators who do not express their interest before the deadline via the indicated portal will not be invited to submit an offer. The latter restriction will not apply to the minimum of five economic operators directly invited by EIGE.
