Great News! The EU decides to sign the Istanbul Convention

On the 11th of May 2017, the Council of the European Union agreed on the EU’s signature of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and girls (Istanbul Convention).

Being the only convention that address FGM as a form of violence against women and girls, the End FGM European Network believes this is a great step in the EU’s action to end FGM.

The following steps are the official signing and the adoption of the decisions on the conclusion of the Convention. These decisions will need the consent of the Parliament.
