Join End FGM EU as a volunteer with the European Solidarity Corps
Are you a motivated young person who wants to turn care and solidarity into real change? End FGM European Network is looking for a passionate volunteer to join our Communications Department through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), an EU initiative that supports young people to contribute to community-focused projects across Europe.
What you will do at End FGM EU:
As a Solidarity Corps volunteer with End FGM EU in Brussels, Belgium, you will be part of our Communications team, helping to increase the visibility of efforts to end female genital mutilation and to support affected communities:
- Mapping communities engaged in combatting FGM.
- Interviewing community-based activists and synthetising inputs
- Assisting with the online promotion of the work of community-based organisations against FGM based in Europe
- Supporting the online presence of End FGM EU throughout different media platforms
- Contributing to the production and publication of content for the Network’s social media accounts
- Supporting the creation and dissemination of the quarterly newsletter and the Network's communication strategy
- Help prepare communication actions for key events and advocacy campaigns
- Supporting the sending of updates and information to Members and Ambassadors through our international communications channel
- Providing ideas to raise awareness among youth
You will receive training and mentorship, including onboarding with other ESC volunteers and specific internal guidance on communications, community engagement, and intersectional approaches.
Participant profile:
- Young volunteer between 18-30 years old, living in Europe and originating from an FGM-affected community or with a personal or professional interest in ending FGM.
- Good English language skills, both oral and written, French is an asset
- Knowledge of, or interest in, gender equality and gender-based violence issues
- Understanding of the cultural and gender context and sensitivity of FGM, and the ability to engage with the topic in a respectful and informed manner - Enthusiasm and commitment to meaningful work in human rights advocacy
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Capacity to work well during busier periods of the calendar in a fast paced environment, with the ability to prioritise tasks while meeting deadlines
- Understanding of debates on FGM, violence against women and gender issues
- Aligned with the values of End FGM EU and committed to a decolonial and intersectional approach that recognises structural discrimination, including racism, patriarchy, LGBTIphobia and xenophobia.
Practical details:
- Location: End FGM European Network, Rue d’Edimbourg 26, Brussels, Belgium
- Duration: 52 weeks (16 March 2026 to 15 March 2027)
- Allowance: Monthly food and accommodation support, pocket money, travel cost reimbursement and local transport covered
