Lebkom e.v - National honour for the FULDA-MOSOCHO PROJECT
GREAT NEWS - Our member Lebkom e.v's FULDA-MOSOCHO Project (FMP) received a national honour on 8 March 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya on International Women’s Day.
Thanks to the joint effort and tireless work in close cooperation by Enka Enyia, Vivid Com and the CENTER FOR PROFS, the Lebkom FULDA-MOSOCHO Project (FMP) and its Value-Centered Approach (VCA), developed by Prof. Dr. Muthgard Hinkelmann-Toewe, received a national honour.
Jones Makori, Project Coordinator and Kenyan representative of the FMP, was recognized as an Anti-FGM Champion due to the comprehensive results achieved using the VCA. He was nominated among 44 Anti-FGM Champions from 22 counties of Kenya.
The #BreaktheBias event on the occasion of International Women’s Day was graced by his Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta and the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Margaret Kenyatta.
The First Lady thanked the Anti-FGM Champions in her speech: “I commend you for the outstanding work you have done and the commitment you have demonstrated to bring this practice to an end.”
Thanks to the FULDA-MOSOCHO PROJECT, tens of thousands of girls are sustainably protected within their families by their fathers, decision-makers together with their mothers against FGM and are growing up unscathed, equal and with their clitoris.
News of the award was welcomed by the FMP volunteers and numerous officials, who congratulated Jones M. on receiving the Presidential Award as the Head of State’s Commendation (H.S.C.).
Lebkom now hopes that the award will be followed by political decisions on budgets for outstanding approaches in the fight against FGM.
