Looking ahead to our 2026 Intergenerational Ambassadors Meeting
Our Ambassadors are coming together on 19–20 September 2026 in Brussels for two days of connection, learning and collective action.
End FGM EU relaunched its Ambassador Programme in 2025 to bring together advocates from different generations, countries and backgrounds who share a commitment to ending female genital mutilation (FGM). The programme gives them a space to exchange experiences, knowledge and strengthen their advocacy skills. For our Network, it brings voices and perspectives rooted in affected communities closer to our work, helping ensure that their realities and priorities inform our advocacy and actions.
A key moment in this journey is the Intergenerational Ambassadors Meeting, a two-day gathering dedicated to strengthening collaboration and shaping our shared work. Last year, on 11–12 October, we experienced the energy of this community first-hand, with some of them meeting each other in person for the very first time.
For this year’s edition, the same group of Ambassadors will come together to reflect on what they have achieved, what they have learned, where they have made an impact and where more needs to be done.
The first day will focus on learning, exchange and capacity building. Ambassadors will strengthen their skills in public speaking, advocacy and engagement with decision-makers, while also leading knowledge-sharing sessions on men in the diaspora against FGM, children’s agency and medicalised FGM, and youth engagement and advocacy. The programme will also turn to digital hate in the age of AI, exploring how new technologies are reshaping online gender-based violence, how to recognise AI-generated content, and how Ambassadors can respond through effective content creation.
On the second day, we will move from reflection to action. Through a series of Action Labs, Ambassadors will work on priorities they have identified themselves, including FGM legislation and implementation, stigma and racism affecting survivors, cultural sensitivity and the drivers of FGM, as well as well-being, resilience and the prevention of activist burnout. Most importantly, these conversations will be geared towards concrete outcomes: recommendations, practical tools, potential partnerships and advocacy action plans.
We are also delighted to welcome African Union Saleema Initiative Youth Ambassador Amal Abdi Ahmed, bringing another voice and perspective to this intergenerational exchange.
We're looking forward to these two days to reconnect, learn from one another and strengthening our collective efforts towards a world free from FGM.
