Save the date: launch of the 2026 End FGM EU campaign
On 5 February 2026, on the eve of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, the End FGM European Network will host the launch of its annual campaign at the European Parliament, Spinelli Building, Room 1G1.
Each year on 6 February, the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM is a key moment to reaffirm political commitments, highlight gaps in protection and services, and amplify the voices of women and girls affected by this human rights violation.
Our 2025 campaign, #Invest2PreventFGM, was a success. It shifted the conversation toward funding, a topic that dominated the development sector this year. But investment alone is not enough. What matters is how that investment translates into action, impact, and transformation. What truly transforms systems and protects girls is not only funding, but sustained caring commitment. This is what brought us to our 2026 campaign idea: Care In Action To End FGM.
The event will serve as a launch of this campaign. It will be co hosted by Melissa Camara (France, Greens/EFA) and Cecilia Strada (Italy, S&D), whose leadership underscores the European Parliament’s continued role in advancing gender equality and the eradication of harmful practices. It i also organised with the support of Lina Galvez (Spain, S&D), Estrella Galan (Spain, The Left), and Abir Al-Sahlani (Sweden, Renew), reflecting strong cross party and cross country commitment to ending FGM.
