UNAF: integral attention, XI Conference against FGM, fostering intercultural mediation and promoting sexual and reproductive rights in Spain

The area of Cultures, genders and sexualities at UNAF (Families’ associations' union) continues the implementation of integral attention to FGM survivors and their families in the region of Madrid. Also, it promotes the national network “Free of FGM” to expand resources and support to intervention with women and their families to prevent, identify and intervene on ending FGM.

In the first semester of 2022, UNAF highlights their XI Conference against FGM, on ending FGM from various perspectives. This year UNAF wanted to focus on the diverse methodologies and standpoints when working on the intervention with survivors, their families and communities. They give particular relevance to the work of their team of specialized intercultural mediators. They provide a professional support process for women by implementing their intersectional and intercultural methodology to the service.

In the coming months, they will continue fostering their specialized intercultural mediation service as a means to guarantee integral attention to survivors of FGM, families and communities and women’s rights. Also, UNAF will work on facilitating information to women on their sexual and reproductive rights in public services in Spain.
