'Violating children’s rights: Harmful practices based on tradition, culture, religion or superstition', a report by the International NGO Council on Violence against Children, analyses and provides recommendations to tackle harmful practices that are violations of children’s rights.

The report first gives a definition of harmful traditional, cultural and religious practices violating children’s rights. A short analysis for addressing these practices from international standards of human rights and violence against women is provided. The analysis centres on prohibition as a first measure to tackle harmful practices. The next section lists practices identified by the International NGO Council. It also describes examples of legal and other measures already taken to tackle and eliminate them. Finally, the report provides recommendations for action by states, UN and UN-related agencies, INGOs, national and local institutions and NGOs.
