International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)

The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) is a multilateral treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 16, 1966. It entered into force a decade later. It is part of the International Bill of Human Rights and signatories commit to respect the civil and political rights of individuals.

Article 2 - Everyone has the right to enjoy their civil and political rights without discrimination

Article 3 - Right of both men and women to enjoy civil and political rights on an equal ground

Article 6 - Right to life

Article 7 - Right to be free from torture, cruel or degrading treatment

Article 24 - Right of children to be protected

Article 26 - Equal protection of the law
