End FGM EU’s contribution to the Call for Evidence on a Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health

It is clear that, in order to successfully tackle gender-based violence and eliminate FGM, gender- and culturally-sensitive mental health support services are necessary and should be fully accessible and tailored to the needs of Survivors as well as affected communities at large. End FGM EU offers a contribution of the promising practices it has identified regarding support services for Survivors and calls for the implementation of these practices at the wider EU level.

Victims' Rights Directive

Directive 2012/29/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2012 establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime.

Reception Conditions Directive (recast)

Directive 2013/33/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 laying down standards for the reception of applicants for international protection.

Qualification Directive (recast)

Directive 2011/95/EU on standards for the qualification of third-country nationals or stateless persons as beneficiaries of international protection, for a uniform status for refugees or for persons eligible for subsidiary protection

Asylum Procedures Directive (recast)

Directive 2013/32/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 on common procedures for granting and withdrawing international protection.

EU Charter of Fundamental Rights

The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU sets out the rights of EU citizens and residents, rights derived from the constitutional traditions common to EU countries, as well as the economic and social rights agreed through international treaties.
