Cotonou Agreement
The Cotonou Agreement is a treaty between the members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific group of states and the European Union.
The partnership objective is centred on reducing poverty through sustainable development and the gradual integration of ACP countries in the world economy. It is based on three complementary pillars: development cooperation, economic and trade cooperation, and the political dimension.
In article 25, it is stated that cooperation should integrate population issues to improve reproductive health, family planning, and the prevention of female genital mutilation.
