Speak Out On FGM and Lawyers Collective publish a new report, " A Guide to Eliminating FGM in India". The report is a comprehensive road map to curbing and eliminating the practice of FGM in India.
The report states that while the Indian law has provisions for criminal action against any form of hurt, there is no specific mention of FGM. Masooma Ranalvi stressed that a law banning the practice, along with measures to raise awareness, will help to end the practice of FGM. The report also demands penalization of parents, cutters and propagators (Amils). It also recommends compensation and rehabilitation for victims, and all cases reported to an NGO.
