Lebkom e.V. - A peaceful cultural change
Lebkom e.V.’s FULDA-MOSOCHO-PROJECT (FMP) in ending FGM in Kenya resulted in a great success.
After Mosocho, now Kisii South is the second area in Kenya to hold a major public event celebrating mothers’ and fathers’ decision to let their daughters grow up freely and safely without FGM. 1500 girls are now sustainably protected, as part of the FULDA-MOSOCHO-PROJECT.
The key of success were the seminars in which the project shared innovative knowledge to parents and community leaders, which motivated men to behavior change.
European actions
At the same time, the EU resolution “An EU strategy to put an end to female genital mutilation around the world”“An EU strategy to put an end to female genital mutilation around the world” was adopted and “The Restorers” were nominated for the EU Parliament’s Sakharov Prize.
We also wish a happy birthday to Dr. Muthgard Hinkelmann-Toewe, founding member of Lebkom e.V.
